Savoir Saturday Volume 7
Hello from the Big Apple! This week’s Le Recap is all about going home. Returning home is always a cherished moment, like a warm embrace from a dear, familiar friend. I’ll be sharing glimpses of our adventures and culinary discoveries, so stay tuned if that piques your interest. As a native New Yorker, I naturally gravitate towards the city’s hidden gems, the places that whisper authenticity rather than shout tourist traps. I know where to find the perfect pastrami on rye, the quintessential bagel, and the slice of pizza that dreams are made of. Yet, I also relish the thrill of exploring new recommendations, often gleaned from trusted friends who call this city home or return with unwavering devotion.

However, the meal I eagerly anticipate most is Sunday breakfast at the Washington Square Diner. Since 1991, this haven of comfort has remained largely unchanged, and it’s that very familiarity that warms my soul. Life may lead us away from our hometowns, for work, love, or countless other reasons, but the comforting truth is, we can always find our way back home. And sometimes we just need that hug.
Le Recap – Quick Reads & Recommendations
Grab some coffee and start exploring things I loved this week:
- What’s the Best Red Nail Polish – I have been obsessed with red nails lately. Typically, I would only wear red during the holidays. This past holiday season, I decided to keep up with it, exploring different shades. This article highlights the top 10 trending colors. I am currently wearing Opi’s Big Apple Red and really love it.
- If you are like me and enjoy a great glass of champagne, check out The Best Champagnes for Under $100. They also offer a monthly subscription that delivers three bottles to you for $135 per month. I am going to give it a try and see how it goes. I will report back.
- The Longevity Movement caught my attention. I am all about self-care and learning new ways to care for myself in this midlife season. While some are a bit odd, and I would not try, the basic principles are valuable lessons for us.
- Last month I purchased these eye patches and swear by them. I do not use them every day, but I do use them before I want to look fresh and awake. And, my makeup doesn’t seem to settle as much in my eye wrinkles after using these. Perfectly hydrated in 20 minutes. You receive 24 pair for under $24.
- As I have gotten older, I have noticed that my lips don’t stay hydrated like they used to, and this just irks me. A friend recommended this overnight lip mask and I have noticed a significant improvement with less cracking and drying.
- My husband and I recently watched Zero Day on Netflix with Robery DeNiro and really enjoyed it. Lots of twists and turns, with 6 episodes, all just under an hour long.
The Weekly Find | Rue or Runway
My Rue (Street) or Runway series was a big hit last week, so I will share this each week moving forward. Handbags are my love language. I shop many of my designer bags on consignment, and when I really want a new one, I consign one to purchase the next one. I also can’t afford to splurge on every bag I fall in love with, so I often look for a high-quality handbag offering a similar look and feel. Both of these handbags are made from leather, in a color that has been trending and one I personally adore. The Rue (street version) is just under $300, while the designer YSL bag will set you back about $3k. I personally prefer the more affordable style.
